The Southernmost Point Buoy is a concrete buoy at the corner of South Street and Whitehead Street in Key West that marks the southernmost point in the continental United States. Situated 18 feet above sea level and one of Key West’s most iconic landmarks, the location was initially marked with a small sign before a larger painted buoy was erected in 1983 and today, is one of the most visited and photographed attractions in the country. The concrete buoy is also where the famous ‘90 miles to Cuba’ saying is posted and boasts breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean.
