Trail of Governors in Pierre, South Dakota surrounds the beautifully restored Capitol building and continues through the historic district of the city. This sculpture trail is thought to be the only trail of its kind anywhere in the United States. The Trail of Governors was designed to serve as a lasting tribute to the Governors of South Dakota. These bronze statues along the trail honor each of South Dakota’s governors for the purpose of enlightenment and enjoyment of both residents of the state and those visiting the city. Future governors will be added to the Trail of Governors as well.
