The Fighting Stallions Memorial was constructed in 1994 to commemorate the death of eight citizens of South Dakota who died in a plane crash on April 19, 1993 while on a state mission.

This bronze sculpture that shows two stallions fighting stands on an artificial hill with eight plaques honoring the fallen heroes. The Fighting Stallion was recreated in bronze from the 1935 mahogany creation by renowned local sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski.
