Located on North Second Street in Memphis, the Slave Haven Underground Railroad Museum is a historic house museum. Known as the Burkle Estate, the house was built in 1849 by Jacob Burkle, a German immigrant who was a stockyard owner and a strong supporter of the anti-slavery movement. At one time, Memphis was the largest slave-trading city in Tennessee.

Starting around 1855, this modest antebellum home, located near the banks of the Mississippi River, served as a safe haven for slaves who could board boats heading towards the Northern states. The house features artifacts, trap doors, and hidden passages.
