Hershey Theatre is a historic theater located on East Caracas Avenue in Hershey. Built by Lancaster architect C. Emlen Urban and opened in 1933, its major benefactor was chocolate magnate Milton S. Hershey. Mr. Hershey promoted the building of the theater and many other landmarks such as the Hotel Hershey, the Hersheypark Arena, and the Hersheypark Stadium as a part of his “Great Building Campaign” during the depression years between 1929 and 1933.
With a seating capacity of 1,904 people, the theater presents classical music concerts, dance performances, touring Broadway shows, and performances by world class entertainers. The interior of the theater is known for its beauty: its polished Italian lava rock floor, marble, painted ceiling, and much more.
