Located on Flinders Street in downtown Melbourne, the Australian Centre for the Moving Image is a facility dedicated to preserving and exhibiting motion pictures from Australia and from around the world. It was established in 2002 and contains state-of-the-art equipment and facilities.

The Centre has two main cinemas and hosts several weekly and monthly film programs such as Australian Perspectives, Cinematheque, Kids’ Flicks, Seniors’ Cinema, and more. Special events include perspectives of internationally known film actors and directors. Screen Worlds is a permanent but changing exhibit that shares the story of moving pictures. The Centre partners with many film festivals, and it is open every day.
