Review & FAQ:
The Conde-Charlotte Museum is housed in what was originally the first courthouse and jail in Mobile, built in the 1920’s. Later, the building became the much-loved home of the Kirkbride family, who lived there until the 1950’s. Today the Conde-Charlotte museum is beautifully restored and furnished with carefully selected period pieces from a variety of eras, which offer visitors a glimpse of several distinct periods of Mobile history. You can admire a British Commandant’s room (1760-1780), the American Federal dining room (1800) and 2 confederate parlors which represent the antebellum era, prior to 1861.
