Review & Frequenly Asked Questions:
The Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania that visitors see today is a fairly new building that was constructed between 2002 and 2009 over the site of the original building, which was demolished in 1801.
The original palace was built in the 15th century for the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the future Kings of Poland, but it expanded in the 16th and 17th century as a political, cultural, and administrative center. Today, visitors are able to explore the historically restored palace on one of the many guided tours offered and experience not only the stunning architecture, which resembles the original structure, but also the many antiquities and art pieces found within.
