The Tomb of the Unknowns , or the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier as it’s also called, is located inside Arlington National Cemetery.

The monuments stands on top of a hill that overlooks Washington D.C. and is dedicated to American service members who have lost their lives without their remains being identified.

The tomb itself, as well as what it stands for, have a great history; the tomb was built from seven pieces of Yule marble quarried in Colorado, and the monument opened to the public in April 1932.

The tomb is one of the most-visited sites in the cemetery, as visitors from across the nation come to pay their respects to the “Unknowns.”
