The Museum at Michigan State University got its start in 1857. It is one of the oldest museums in the United States and a member of the American Alliance of Museums. With a collection of close to one million artifacts and documents, the MSU Museum was the first in the state to receive Smithsonian affiliate status from the prestigious Smithsonian Institution.

In addition to its intriguing exhibits, the museum is frequently recognized for its research endeavors, its educational programs, and its longstanding partnerships with local organizations. The museum is open daily year round with the exception of holidays and special university events.
