Looking for a mix of small-town charm and urban adventure? I always suggest heading to Arvada! This spot between Denver and the foothills has become one of my favorite go-to escapes. If you’re like me and enjoy historic downtowns, local shops, and nearby nature, Arvada has it all. I’ve spent weekends strolling through Olde Town, hiking nearby trails, and using it as a laid-back base for exploring the Rockies.
Best Time to Visit
From my trips, I’ve found the best time to visit Arvada is from late spring to early fall (May through October). You’ll get warm, sunny days—perfect for patio dining, walking markets, or hitting the trails. I especially love the farmers markets and summer events in Olde Town—there’s always something happening.
How to Get There
- By Car: I usually drive in from Denver—it’s just 20 minutes northwest via I-70 or I-76. Super easy, even on a weekend morning.
- By Train: I’ve taken the G Line from Union Station and it drops you right in Olde Town Arvada in about 20 minutes. It’s a relaxing and fun way to arrive, especially if you’re skipping the car.
- By Plane: When flying into Denver International Airport (DEN), I either grab a rental or take the train with a quick transfer. It’s about 35–45 minutes total, and I’ve done it both ways without stress.
Where to Stay
- Hilton Garden Inn Arvada Denver – I’ve stayed here when I wanted to be close to everything in Olde Town. The rooms are comfortable, and the on-site restaurant makes mornings easy.
- Arvada Dragonfly – This cozy, locally run inn really charmed me. If you’re into quiet garden views and boutique-style rooms, you’ll love it here like I did.
- Origin Red Rocks Hotel – I picked this one when I planned a Red Rocks show. It’s stylish, just south of Arvada, and perfect if you want to combine music and mountain time.
