Designated a National Historic Site, the Lucy Maud Montgomery Cavendish Home was where the Anne of Green Gables author spent the first 37 years of her life. Although the house and farm buildings are no longer standing, there are a number of placards to be found around the site, offering quotes and pictures to help visitors gain a better understanding of the author's life and works. An on-site museum displays original artifacts from the homestead such as lamps, photos, and the fireplace mantel, and visitors can purchase stamped copies of their favorite Anne of Green Gables books in the bookstore.
