The Carnegie Observatories is an international research program focusing on astronomy. Pasadena is the headquarters of the group, which also has an observatory in Chile. In addition to focusing on their research, they also have outreach programs designed to engage the general public in the topics that are most important to them.
Every spring at the Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens in San Marino, the Carnegie Observatories host free lectures to the public about the latest happenings in the world of astronomy. They also have an annual Open House when the public is free to tour their facilities.
