Review:

Located in the beautifully renovated 1920s colonial El Paseo building, Workshop Kitchen and Bar offers an elegant dining experience in the stark simplicity of its dining room with a high ceiling, concrete walls, and a long communal table flanked by small, cozy booths. Chefs and owners Michael Beckman and Joseph Mourani offer market-driven American classics with their own modern interpretation, supported by local farms and fresh ingredients. The seasonally rotating menu includes slow-roasted lamb tajine, market veggie enchiladas with white corn, kale, poblano roasted peppers, grilled tomatillo sauce, fried duck egg, and cotija cheese, and the crispy local goat cheese comes with braised lentils, scallions, and golden beets. To stay true to the Workshop concept, there is a wood-fired pizza oven and grill for ribs, burgers, and steaks.
