Calaveras County is a charming region in Northern California's Gold Country and High Sierra regions, home to a population of more than 40,000 residents. The region is known nationwide as the home of Calaveras Big Trees State Park, which showcases a spectacular collection of Giant Sequoia trees originally discovered in 1852 by bear trapper Augustus T.
