Review:
Located in San Francisco, California, The Exploratorium is a public museum and learning laboratory founded by the famous physicist Frank Oppenheimer, who wanted to improve scientific education in the United States. Oppenheimer was awarded a grant to develop new methods for teaching physics to elementary and school children, and this work evolved into an interactive museum of science, art and human perception which opened its doors to the public in 1969.
Much like its founder, the museum has always been at the cutting edge of teaching and learning and now boasts a 50,000-page website and numerous iPad apps. Its main sustainability goal is becoming a net-zero-energy facility by producing more energy than it consumes.
