Named after a respected Big Sur pioneer, Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park stretches inland from the Big Sur coastline to reach an elevation of nearly 3,000 feet in some places. The park encompasses magnificent forests and an 80-foot waterfall which drops directly into the sea from the Overlook Trail. You will find interpretive exhibits and programs at the Visitor’s Center and have the chance to enjoy wildlife watching as you make your way along a network of hiking trails and nature walks, including an easy path to the beach. There are two hike-in Environmental campgrounds and day-trippers can bring a picnic to enjoy at the picnic areas.
