Located at the confluence of the Mojave and Colorado Deserts, Joshua Tree National Park is home to two distinct and separate ecosystems which provide habitats for a surprisingly large number of plants and animals. The 800,000-acre park is a delight to visit and you will need some time to truly do it justice; you can make your base at one of nine scenic campgrounds and spend your days admiring this unique landscape on foot, horse-back or motorized shuttle bus. Other activities in the park include star-gazing, wildlife watching, rock climbing, hi-lining and slack-lining. Equestrians are well-catered for at special equestrian campsites, and children can sign up for a Junior Ranger Program.
