Located in the cities of Seal Beach and Long Beach California, the Los Cerritos Wetlands provide protection to a variety of disappearing plant species. The marshes are also filled with wildlife, including many species of endemic and migratory birds, several of which are rare or endangered. The area is currently undergoing a large restoration initiative which includes efforts to purchase more land and to further protect the environment. Visitors to the wetland can join guided month nature walks and bird walks and can participate in various Habitat Restoration Projects. Be sure to wear closed shoes when visiting and leave your fur-baby at home – no animals are allowed in the wetlands to avoid disturbing the wildlife.
