Review:
California Citrus State Historic Park is a popular open-air museum in Riverside, California, established in 1915 to interpret the historic and cultural influence of the citrus industry on California’s development.
The lovely 248-acre park recaptures the period of time when "Citrus was King" in California. There is a nice, very informative visitors center and a "History Hike," a free guided tour through the park. Visitors can learn about California's citrus industry and enjoy fruit fresh off the tree. California’s citrus industry grew rapidly from 1873, when the US Department of Agriculture sent two navel orange trees to Eliza Tibbets in Riverside. Perfect conditions, climate, and soil produced exceptionally sweet fruit and word of this wonderful opportunity spread fast, starting a “second gold rush.”
