Located within the Joshua Tree National Park, about 12 miles south of the north entrance, the Cholla Cactus Garden will astound you with an outstanding display of cactus plants which manage to thrive in this harsh high-desert habitat. A flat boardwalk leads visitors along an amazing hiking trail through the heart of the 10 acre garden, whose vegetation is dominated by the teddybear cholla. Besides the teddybear cholla you will also find several other interesting plants including the magenta-flowered hedgehog cactus, yellow brittlebush, desert lavender and the beavertail cactus. Most of these desert adapted plants flower at sometime between January and July.
