Review & FAQ:

Thailand Burma Railway Centre tells the story of the Thailand-Burma Railway, built by Allied prisoners of war and Asian laborers during World War II. Under the direction of the Imperial Japanese Army, these laborers constructed 415 kilometers of a railway that was intended to transport military supplies for the eventual invasion of India by the Japanese forces. The displays describe the technical building process and pay tribute to the human experience. The center is open daily and can be found on the site of the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery, which is 128 kilometers west of Bangkok but easily accessible by private car or public transportation.
