Housed in the oldest hospital in Thailand, Siriraj Medical Museum of medical curiosities comprises several smaller museums that cover pathology, forensics, parasitology, anatomy, and the prehistoric era. Visitors curious about the medical field will find the mummified remains of serial killers as well as disease samples, dissected organs, artifacts, and parasites collected from human patients on display. Though the average tourist may find the museum morbid, the Thai people show their respect by leaving candy as an offering for the spirits of the people who ended up as exhibits, and students and medical professionals use the material to learn more about traditional and alternative medicine.
