El Tovar Hotel opened its doors to welcome its first visitors in 1905 and has, since then, been extending its exceptional hospitality to visitors from near and far alike. Designated a National Historic Landmark in 1987, the hotel was designed by Charles Whittlesey, who envisioned the hotel to be a perfect mix of a Norwegian Villa and a Swiss chalet. The El Tovar Hotel is no stranger to welcoming prestigious guests with Albert Einstein, Theodore Roosevelt, Sir Paul McCartney, and OOprah Winfrey being just some of their many patrons. Guests at El Tovar can enjoy great tours and activities around the area such as their world-famous Mule Rides, a tour of the Historic Village, rafting tours, and even a railway tour on board a vintage train.
