The Bible Museum is operated by the owners of Greatsite, the world’s largest online archive and dealer of rare and antique religious texts, manuscripts, and theology books. Its collection was founded in 1988 by Jonathan Byrd and Craig Lampe, who began collecting rare and historic Bibles and other texts as part of an anthropology project related to the role of Christianity in American politics and government. Goodyear’s Bible Museum showcases world-renowned artifacts from the Greatsite collection, including portions of the Dead Sea Scrolls, copies of the original 1611 King James Version Bible, and pages from the Gutenberg Bible. Visitors can explore collections up close and personal as part of hands-on exhibits at the free 24-hour museum, which is located within the city’s Hampton Inn and Suites.
