The Phoenix International Raceway, or ISM Raceway, is a tri-oval, low-banked race track that is one mile in length. Located near Phoenix in Avondale, the raceway first opened back in 1964 and now hosts two weekends of NASCAR races every year. As such, it is one of just thirteen raceways on NASCAR’s schedule to hold more than just one NASCAR race weekend annually. The Phoenix International Raceway has also been host to the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, USAC, IndyCar Series, and CART. The motor track also features lights around the raceway and can seat approximately 51,000 people in the grandstand.
