A favorite with both residents and visitors, Red Mountain Park is a vital urban green space that was once the iron ore mining site that built the city of Birmingham, Alabama. The 1,500-acre park has a 15-mile trail system, which takes you through the state’s diverse terrain as well as past many other spaces such as the Rushing Rendezvous Treehouse, three historic mining sites, and various overlooks with panoramic views of downtown Birmingham and the Jones Valley. Other than walking and hiking, you can also go mountain biking on the trails, take your furry friend to Remy’s Dog Park, or go on an outdoor team forging experience.
