Created to preserve 553 acres in Fairfield County, Christmas Rocks State Nature Preserve is known for its distinctive Black Hand Sandstone formations and for being home to the rare Bradley’s spleenwort. There are 3 miles of hiking trails in the park, which range in difficulty from moderate to more challenging. The highlight of the park is a 250-foot sandstone formation called Jacob's Ladder, which visitors can climb to get a beautiful view of the foothills in the valley of Arney Run. Due to the diverse habitats the park encompasses, it is also a popular destination for birdwatching enthusiasts.
