American Eagle (Six Flags Great America) holds the distinction as the world’s tallest, fastest, and longest racing wooden coaster. The classic Intamin coaster was constructed in 1981 and was the United States’ fastest wooden coaster throughout much of the 1980s, reaching a peak speed of 66 miles per hour.
