Located a few miles north of Sturgeon Bay on Highway 42, The Garden Door opened in 2005 at the University of Wisconsin Peninsular Agricultural Research Station. The members of the Door County Master Gardeners Association designed the garden and are maintaining it. The garden includes a fairie garden, pond with koi, a children's play area, double kaleidoscope, pollinator garden, ornamental grass area with strange bottle trees, memorial tunnel, winces and annual and perennial beds. There is also a community garden where the staff of the Door County Master Gardener Volunteers, Research Station and UW Extension plant and harvest crops s every summer.
