They are then shipped to Door County in a refrigerated truck and immediately pressed for freshness. Small batches keep the wine unique and perfected. Two specific tastings are available: the signature series tasting, where you choose five wines, or the winemaker select series tasting, where you choose six wines.

For those wanting to do some shopping, there are many stores and galleries around Egg Harbor. Off the Wheel Pottery is a gallery held within two older buildings: a barn and a granary. A third building, newly built, houses the studio, where guests, like resident artist Renee Schwaller, create their pottery. Guests can come to see the local artists’ work, which has been handmade. Not all artists are local, some are from as far away as Florida, but the ceramics are all beautifully made and presented for patrons to check out. The gallery is only open to visitors from May through October.

When visiting Woodwalk Gallery, you’ll find so many beautiful art pieces that can be purchased only at the gallery. By remaining on the path, guests will not interfere with animals establishing habitats or spread invasive species from shoes. White Cliff Nature Preserve welcomes all pets but asks that they remain on a leash and are picked up after. Whit Cliff reserves a “leave no trace” policy, where visitors do not bring items into the preserve nor take them out.

In 1882, the building that now houses Shipwrecked Brew Pub was built. In 2017, a fire destroyed the old building, but when it was rebuilt in 2018, the customer was kept in mind. Rather than old rooms for an inn upstairs, the second story is a dining room featuring water views. With a history that harkens to Al Capone, there are also rumors of ghosts who gently haunt the halls of the restaurant, believed to be victims of Capone’s. Shipwrecked is a brewery that creates microbrews, and a local favorite is the fried cheese curds served with garlic chili ketchup.

The menu shifts as the seasons do, so you’re always going to find a great meal with seasonal favorites no matter when you visit. For instance, check out the Bluepoint Oysters Rockefeller or the pistachio and panko encrusted whitefish. Today, guests can stop in the shop to pick up some coffee, shipped in from all around the world, including South India, Nicaragua, El Salvador, and Indonesia. Though the coffee is great, it’s the chocolate that shines in this store. Combining chocolate and cherries is one of the great innovations at Chocolate Chicken since cherries are a local crop. On top of chocolates, caramels, cherry sauce, and coffee, be sure to check out the mugs and shirts that bare the Chocolate Chicken crowned chicken logo.
