The Frenchtown Historic Site lies within the original homelands of the Walla Walla and Cayuse tribes, and was established by French/Canadian explorers around 1823. Owned and maintained by the Frenchtown Historic Foundation, the Historic Site encompasses several interesting sites including the St. Rose Cemetery and the restored Prince’s Cabin, which is thought to be the oldest example of a French/Canadian building in Washington. A visit to the site will give visitors a glimpse into the lives of early pioneer settlers in the area. You can learn about early fur trading, the people of Frenchtown and their integration with the native tribes, the famous Battle of Walla Walla and the Baker Railroad.
