Northwest African American Museum is located in Seattle’s Central District, a vibrant multi-cultural neighborhood that was the childhood home of Jimi Hendrix.

The museum, housed in the 1909 former Colman School building, overlooks the musician’s namesake park, Jimi Hendrix Park. NAAM presents the unfolding story of African Americans and their journey to the Northwest, via slavery through recent immigration. The museum tells their evolving story through programs and exhibits featuring music, literature, visual arts, crafts, history, and events. Docent-led tours are available with a three-day notice.
