Riddick House, also called Riddicks Folly, is a historic home in Suffolk, Virginia built in 1837 in Greek Revival style. Mills Riddick was ridiculed by his contemporaries for constructing such a fanciful home, but the house is to this day the most impressive structure on Suffolk’s Main Street, a beautiful reminder of the past. The house has twenty-one rooms on four floors, sixteen fireplaces, elegantly furnished parlors, a library, and adult and children’s bedrooms. There are the bathing and dressing room on the third floor. The fourth floor has the slave quarters. The winter kitchen is located in the English basement together with the laundry and dining rooms. All floors are open to the public. The Riddick’s Folly is today a house museum and has a charming, well-stocked Gift Shop in the English basement.
