Review & Frequenly Asked Questions:
The Fredericksburg & Spotsylvania National Military Park is known as “America’s battleground.” The Civil War rose to a bloody climax in the area of Spotsylvania, Wilderness, Chancellorsville, and Fredericksburg. There is possibly no other place the reflects the tragic cost of the Civil War more vividly in all of its forms. The park consists of four of the major battlefields of the Civil War, as well as a number of other historic buildings related to the war. The Fredericksburg Battlefield Visitor Center and the Chancellorsville Battlefield Visitor Center both serve as a good introduction to the historic site.
