Whether you're visiting for nature, a little tech-side energy, or just a relaxing suburban escape, Ashburn delivers with style and ease.

Best Time to Visit

From my experience, spring and fall (April–June and September–October) are the best times to visit. You’ll love the mild temperatures and either blooming flowers or vibrant fall colors. I’ve enjoyed crisp autumn mornings on the W&OD Trail and sunny spring afternoons sipping local brews—Ashburn just feels extra inviting during these seasons.

How to Get There

By Car: I usually take the Dulles Greenway (VA Route 267)—Ashburn is an easy 45-minute drive from D.C. and just 15 minutes from Dulles Airport. You’ll appreciate how close it is, yet how different it feels from the city bustle.
By Plane: When I fly in, I use Dulles International Airport (IAD). It’s practically next door, and you’ll be in Ashburn before your coffee cools down.
By Metro: I love that the Silver Line now runs to Ashburn—it’s made getting in from D.C. so much easier. If you don’t feel like driving, this is a great option for a car-free weekend escape.

Where to Stay

Aloft Dulles Airport North – I’ve stayed here when I wanted something sleek and convenient. The lounge has a cool vibe, and you’ll be close to the airport without feeling like you're at a layover stop.
Embassy Suites by Hilton Dulles North – I usually recommend this to friends visiting with family or for business. The suites are spacious, and you’ll love the free breakfast and easy access to both Ashburn and Herndon.
Tru by Hilton Ashburn One Loudoun – I stayed here once for a concert at One Loudoun and it was perfect. You’ll be steps from shops, dining, and nightlife—everything you need is right there.

Top Attractions

One Loudoun – This place feels like Ashburn’s social heart. I’ve caught a movie at Alamo Drafthouse, browsed the shops, and enjoyed patio dining all in one afternoon. You’ll find events here year-round, so keep an eye on the calendar.
Old Ox Brewery – I love grabbing a pint here after a ride on the W&OD Trail. You’ll find great beer, live music, and a super friendly atmosphere—it’s low-key and local in the best way.
W&OD Trail – I’ve biked this scenic rail trail through Ashburn more times than I can count. You’ll pass wooded areas, open views, and maybe even spot a deer or two. It’s perfect for a morning ride or a relaxing walk.
Ashburn Park (Dinosaur Park) – I always bring visiting families here. The nature trails are peaceful, and the dino-themed playground is a huge hit with kids. Even I couldn’t resist taking a few photos with the statues!
iFLY Loudoun – This indoor skydiving spot is such a blast. I tried it once on a whim and now I always recommend it to anyone looking for something different. It’s safe, thrilling, and right in the middle of all the action near One Loudoun.
