1. Vermont Institute of Natural Science


Vermont Institute of Natural Science


Located about third of a mile west of the Quechee Gorge, the Vermont Institute of Natural Science is a non-for-profit environmental education organization in Quechee, Vermont. Its goal is to promote care for the environment through research, education and avian wildlife rehabilitation. The Institute’s Nature Center in Quechee includes 17 exhibits of raptors with hawks, eagles, falcons, vultures, owls and ravens. There are also a nature shop, a classroom, nature trails and an animal support facility which takes care of hurt birds, rehabilitates them and releases them back in their habitat. There is also a new frog exhibit as well as a flight simulator, which creates in visitors a sense of flying.

2. Quechee Bridge

The Quechee Gorge Bridge in Hartford is one of the most beautiful historic bridges in Vermont and the state’s oldest steel arch bridge. About 165 feet over the Ottauquechee River, near the end of Quechee Gorge, the bridge was built in 1911 as a railway bridge and converted in the 1930s to a roadway bridge in the 1930s. By design, the Quechee Bridge is a 70 foot long one span steel stringer bridge. It carries Waterman Hill Road, in Quechee, the over Ottaquechee River. It is located on US 4, about half way between Woodstock and White River Junction.

3. The Quechee Club

Quechee Lakes is a quaint planned village located in the town of Hartford, created by the association of the home and landowners in the beautiful picturesque Vermont valley.
