Formerly a mining town, Durango is a charming small community surrounded by mountains and canyons. There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the beautiful outdoors; the local is usually open for skiing and snowboarding just in time for the long weekend, but visitors who arrive before the snow flies will still be able to hike and mountain bike.
