Even with chillier weather and all of the summer tourists heading home, there is still one major event in Munich during September that draws over seven million visitors each year: Octoberfest. It begins annually on the second to last Saturday in September at noon, with the mayor of Munich tapping the first barrel of beer and declaring the festival to be open.
