The airport for the Maldives is the Ibrahim Nasir International Airport. It is located on the small island of Hulhule that is located next to the island of Malé. This airport is used for both international flights as well as domestic flights to the other islands that make up the country of the Maldives. To get from Hulhule to Malé you take a dhonis shuttle. These are traditionally handcrafted motorboats similar to Arabic dhows. The shuttles leave every ten minutes from the jetties just north of the airport’s arrival hall. They arrive and depart from Malé from the landing at the east end of Moduthakurufaanu Magu, Malé’s main street. Verified Resource: The Weather Channel

Malé is an island and a city: it is not large and it is easy to walk around to see the sights. If you choose to drive a car, remember that people in the Maldives drive on the left side of the road. But dealing with a car and parking on a small island is a nuisance, so it’s much better to use your own two feet. If you need a rest, find a cafe and relax as you watch life in Malé pass by. Some resorts offer buggy rides to guests who choose not to walk. There are no metered taxis, but fares are capped at a fixed price.
