Looking for upscale charm and suburban relaxation near Dallas–Fort Worth? I head to Southlake! When I want luxury shopping, great restaurants, and beautiful parks (all wrapped in a relaxed, family-friendly vibe!), this is where I go. Southlake gives me that polished Texas hospitality with just the right balance of sophistication and comfort. For me, it's a 3-hour drive because I live near Austin. Whether I’m planning a romantic weekend, splurging on a shopping trip, or spending time by the lake, Southlake always feels like a refined retreat.

What I Think You’ll Enjoy in Southlake, TX:

  • For Luxury Shoppers: I always make time to stroll through Southlake Town Square—great shops, nice vibes, and perfect for a treat-yourself day.
  • For Nature Lovers: I’ve explored the trails at Bob Jones Nature Center and loved how peaceful it feels. You’ll find woods, meadows, and plenty of space to slow down.
  • For Families: I recommend Bicentennial Park—it’s a hit with kids thanks to the splash pads, playgrounds, and picnic spots. I’ve brought family here and we always end up staying longer than planned.
  • For Culture Seekers: I’ve caught performances by the Southlake Community Band and Apex Arts League. It’s such a fun way to add a little local flavor to your evening.

When I Recommend Visiting Southlake, TX

From my experience, the best times to visit are in the spring (March–May) and fall (September–November). The weather is just right, and I love how everything from the parks to the downtown area feels extra inviting with flowers blooming or fall colors starting to show. There are also a lot of fun seasonal events if you time it right.

How I Get to Southlake, TX (And How You Can Too)

  • By Car: I usually take TX-114—it’s a quick 30-minute drive from either Dallas or Fort Worth. Super convenient if you’re already in the area.
  • By Air: If you’re flying in, you’re in luck—Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is just about 10 minutes away. I’ve flown in and out of there often, and getting to Southlake is a breeze.
  • By Ride Share: I’ve used Uber and Lyft to get around when I didn’t want to rent a car. Everything’s close enough that ride shares work great, especially if you're planning to stay near downtown.
