Craving a charming escape filled with wine, history, and seasonal fun? I think you’ll love Grapevine. Every time I visit, I’m struck by how it perfectly blends small-town magic with big Texas hospitality. Nestled right between Dallas and Fort Worth, you’ll find everything from winery tastings and Main Street strolls to lake adventures and family-friendly attractions. I always leave feeling like I’ve uncovered a little gem.

Best Time to Visit

From my experience, the best time to visit Grapevine is in the spring (March–May) or fall (September–November). You’ll get that ideal weather for walking Main Street, grabbing lunch on a patio, or enjoying a vineyard tour without breaking a sweat. I’ve attended festivals during both seasons, and there’s just something extra festive in the air during those times.

How to Get There

  • By Car: I usually take Highway 121—it’s super easy to get to. You’ll be just 5 minutes from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, which makes it incredibly convenient whether you’re driving in or picking up friends.
  • By Air: If you’re flying, you’re in luck. DFW Airport is partially located in Grapevine, so you’re practically already there when you land. I’ve taken both shuttles and rideshares from the airport—they’re quick and hassle-free.
  • By Train: I’ve hopped on TEXRail before to get from Fort Worth, and you can also catch the Grapevine Vintage Railroad right into the historic district. It’s a fun, scenic way to start your trip.

Where to Stay

  • Gaylord Texan Resort – When I’m looking to go all out, this resort is my pick. You’ll love the indoor gardens, the relaxing spa, and the on-site restaurants—and if you're traveling with kids, the water park is a huge win.
  • Hotel Vin – I stayed here once for a wine-themed weekend, and I still dream about it. You’ll enjoy elegant rooms, fantastic food, and a location that’s right in the heart of Historic Downtown. It’s perfect if you want walkable charm with a splash of luxury.
  • Hilton Garden Inn DFW North – For a more practical stay, I’ve found this hotel super reliable. It’s close to the airport and shopping, with all the comforts you’d expect. Great for business trips or shorter visits.
