Lockhart started out as a cowboy town along the famous Chisholm Trail, and there is still a lot of history to be uncovered in the town, including the Caldwell County Courthouse, the Dr. Eugene Clark Library and the Caldwell County Jail Museum. Today the town is famous as a foodie destination – visitors come from near and far to find out why Lockhart is known as the Barbecue Capital of Texas.
