The Sugar Land Heritage Foundation is responsible for the preservation of Sugar Land’s heritage and history as a working plantation. To do this, the Foundation collected historical artifacts, photographs, and written records that document and tell the story of the town’s past. The Foundation preserves all these items and then shares and celebrates them with the community and its visitors. These items are on display in a museum exhibit gallery inside the old Imperial Sugar Refinery site that shut down in 2003. The Sugar Land Heritage Foundation offers the public a historic walking tour to share the history of Sugar Land.
