Located in Deep Ellum, the most historic and culturally rich neighborhood Dallas, Deep Vellum Books is 900 square feet of space filled with books in a 100-year-old building with exposed brick, miles of bookshelves, and concrete floors. Every nook is packed to the rafters with nothing but independently published books: fiction, nonfiction, poetry, chapbooks, zines, and just about anything else that falls under alternative literature.
Authors on their shelves are both local and from all over the world. They focus on small and independent publishers, writers of color, writers from the LGBTQIA community, and writers using feminist perspectives. The store has monthly poetry readings and literary events, art shows, discussions, and more.
