Looking for a small-town getaway with rich history, creative energy, and true Southern hospitality? I think you’ll love Corsicana! When I first visited, I dove headfirst into Texas oil boom history—it’s fascinating stuff. You can stroll through beautifully preserved museums and galleries that surprised me with their depth and charm. I always tell friends: if you’re into historic downtowns, relaxing lakeside afternoons, or boutique shopping, Corsicana has a way of making you feel welcome while keeping things easygoing.

Best Time to Visit

In my experience, spring and fall (March–May and September–November) are the best times to explore. I’ve wandered downtown on a crisp October afternoon and loved how the weather made everything more enjoyable. If you're not a fan of Texas heat (I don’t blame you), this is when you want to go. You’ll catch local festivals, outdoor tours, and quiet moments without breaking a sweat.

How to Get There

  • Driving? That’s usually how I get there. Corsicana is just off I-45, about an hour south of Dallas. If you’re coming from Houston, expect around 2.5 hours. It’s a smooth, scenic drive either way.
  • Flying in? I’ve used Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and Dallas Love Field before—both are pretty convenient, only 1 to 1.5 hours away by car.
  • Considering the bus? Greyhound does run to Corsicana, but honestly, I’d recommend driving if you can. You’ll appreciate having your own wheels to explore the area at your pace.

Where to Stay

  • Hampton Inn & Suites Corsicana – I stayed here on one trip, and it was super convenient. You’ve got a comfy bed, free breakfast, and quick access to downtown—it checks all the boxes.
  • Comfort Inn Corsicana East – If you’re looking to save a bit, I’d go with this one. It’s clean, affordable, and close to everything I wanted to see while I was in town.
