Historic Sugartown was originally called Shugart’s Town, named for an early tavern owner called Eli Shugart. This historic little village has been perfectly preserved and restored to offer visitors an accurate glimpse into the life and times of an early 19th century settlement. Back in the day, Sugartown provided a vital service to the local farming community and offered weary travelers and wagon drivers a place to rest and refuel on their long journeys to the Philadelphia markets. Today visitors can visit the General Store, the Saddler’s Shop, the Carriage Museum and several historic residences. Guided walking tours are available on Saturday mornings from May through September.
