Mount Vernon is a city in Westchester County, New York. It is an inner suburb of New York City, to the north of the borough of the Bronx. Mount Vernon is home to the St.Paul’s Church National Historic Site. It was developed to protect St. Paul’s Church, one of the oldest parish churches in New York. The parish was established in 1665. Grace Baptist Church was laid in the City of Mount Vernon in 1888 to care for the spiritual needs of the then small African American community of Mount Vernon and for their education as well.
