Review:

In 1884 the principal of the Freeport Schools established a modest library (which could fit in a single cupboard) using funds raised by amateur performers. Eventually the growing collection of books found a permanent home in the Freeport Memorial Library in 1924. Since then the library has gone from strength to strength and is now a valuable local asset which offers a wide variety of community activities. To foster a love of reading from a very young age, the library presents a full calendar of reading and learning programs for young children, endeavoring to get pre-schoolers enjoying books long before they learn to read by themselves.
