The monument was revealed to the public in 1902 and stands tall at 18 feet in the Historic District’s Public Square. Magnificent and worthy of photos, the statue was designed and built by August and Louis Saint Gaudens, while the granite pedestal on which the statue stands was crafted by Henry Bacon.
